My First Post

Welcome to my site!  It’s currently under construction at the moment until I can get my technical bearings on what I’m actually doing, lol.  🙂

Hopefully in the coming weeks you will stop here daily or weekly for inspiration, ideas, recommendations, or maybe just a good laugh.  This is my way of leaving a little bit of sparkle behind for you in hopes that you will share it with someone else along the way.

Chic, Cool & Timeless

Why is that certain fashion pieces speak to us in our travels in such a way, it’s like a game changer.  You say to yourself…I really need to have something like that in my collection, or my wardrobe will not be complete.  Well, I’m sure you all can relate to this feeling and I’m sure there is some technical term for it, but regardless, we all know it happens.  This happened to me recently with varsity jackets.  I knew I wanted one, but was looking for the right style for me.  Luckily I found one in my area at the Coach outlet store, and literally got it for a steal!!  It didn’t hurt that it had a “C” on it.  😉

Happy New Year

2018 Goals

“If we don’t change our direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed.”

                                                                                                           – Chinese Proverb

New year equals fresh start!  This is what many people think about when transitioning from one year into the next…another opportunity to set the things you either dream about, or want to change officially in motion.  It’s a great feeling…the pure excitement of the possibilities and new adventures that can potentially lie ahead of you at the beginning of a new year.  The challenge however, lies with the many old habits, and old notions that eventually creep in which can often overshadow and… eventually… like an overgrowing weed, just overtake what you set out to do from the get-go.  You know what I mean, we all have experienced it, and then just like that…another year goes by and you did nothing to make a real dent into anything you really wanted to change or accomplish.  It can be frustrating and even depressing.  It’s ok though!  No need to beat yourself up.  🙂  You can drive change in your life anytime of the year, but it’s always a little bit more fun at the beginning of a new year.  Here are some of my tips I would like to share with you that may help for your 2018 goal setting…

  1. Don’t overdo it.  Write down 3-5 goals max…this way you won’t feel overwhelmed.
  2. Keep your goals somewhere visible so you can see them every day… either your office/desk, your daily planner, refrigerator, etc…this way you can be reminded regularly of what you are trying to achieve or change, and keep it top of mind.
  3. Take small steps to start moving in that direction…and make it realistic and something you can easily achieve…if you take on too much at once you will get frustrated and retire the goal for good.  For example, if you want to visit a special place, just start doing some research online first or talking to people who have visited that place to gain some background and knowledge before you just book something cold turkey.  Another example is if you are trying to get healthier, maybe just start going for a walk daily in your neighborhood vs. doing a high intensity interval training class. Start slow and easy for any goal you set out to do.
  4. Conduct quarterly check-ins with yourself to see what kind of progress you have made…are you behind?  Be honest with yourself, and course correct if you need to.  Don’t dwell on what you haven’t done…just do what you can to gain the momentum to get back on track.

Black Friday

Black Mules
Steve Madden black mules

I don’t know what it is about a new pair of shoes, but I’m probably one of the many women who is just a little obsessed with shoes. 🙂  Maybe it journeys to those “back to school” days when you couldn’t wait to wear those new pair of kicks to strut around in. Well, whatever it is, it kind of stayed with me over the years.  And honestly, I can range from classy and timeless to funky and edgy.  I have so many shoes, it’s a little embarrassing actually.  But with each new fashion season comes a new style that sometimes can literally be too amazing to ignore!  Come one girls, you know what I mean!  😉  I ordered these mules last week from Steve Madden and wore them last Friday with a pair of high waisted cropped black denim jeans and a white blouse.  Super cute and comfy! I have another pair in a pale blush as well from Free People.  If you haven’t embraced the leather mule look yet, give it a try…I think it’s one of those timeless looks that will never go out of style…well at least “Civello Style.” 😉
